Me at home with the furry babies.
Me after a successful interview with ABC Supply
Me in my office at ABC Supply
Three years ago, I was a girl living near Chicago with no plan on where my life was going. I was taking classes at a community college, working full-time at a pizza place and had no idea what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. Two years ago, my life changed when I met the love of my life. From there we adopted two furry babies, moved to a new state, and my life really started to take off. Last year, I realized normal is just a setting on your dryer. There is no such thing as normal. We live weird lives with weird interests around weird people. But, that is what makes everything so much fun. To say that life has sent me on a whirlwind of emotions and adventures is a HUGE understatement. I wouldn’t have it any other way. This past year, I married, adopted furry baby number 3, and became a Recruiting Specialist with a company I am proud to be a part of. Now, a year from graduation with a BA degree and buying a house, I’m here to share some of my stories and adventures so that you can have your own.
“When life knocks you down, try to land on your back. Because if you can look up, you can get up.” – Les Brown
I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. Remember that “whirlwind of emotions and adventure” I was telling you about? That included a car accident, people telling me I was never going to make it, family not speaking to me for months, and being in a constant state of anxiety and worry. I won’t explain the family matters, but it forced me to go out on my own and make a life for myself. I had always lived for others and did what others told me to do to the point where I didn’t know how to think for myself. That transition though, as tough as it was, shaped me into who I am now.
To those who are going through a hard time, I understand you and it will get better. To those who have no idea what they’re doing with their life – it gets better! Just because you’re in a tough spot now doesn’t mean you have to stay there forever. Always remember this: when you’re down, there’s no other way to go but up. Reach your full potential and overcome each trial that comes your way. Life’s journey doesn’t stop when you stumble upon a road block. Push your way forward and conquer it.
Other mildly entertaining facts about me:
- I love to feed people and make them fat.
- I have an unhealthy obsession with dachshunds. In face, every time I see something relating to them, I have to buy it. My husband has an ugly Christmas sweater of one.
- My husband is a Funeral Director.
- We met while working at the same funeral home in Chicago.
- Being from Chicago, the first time I saw a goat was when I was 22 years old.
- This was also the first time I saw a raccoon.
- And the first time I went up in the Sky Deck at the Willis Tower. My Wisconsinite husband took me.
- That was his third time there.
- I have never stayed in a hotel longer than three days.
- I was a nerd in high school and was in every choir and A’cappella group I could join.
- No, it was not like Pitch Perfect.
- Yes, I still am that nerd.
- I’m Puerto Rican and still think it’s weird how particular Wisconsinites are about the casing on their sausages and bratwurst.
- Their cheese curds really are the bomb.com though.
- But I hate their beer – well, beer in general.
- I love teaching new things to people.
- I also really like taking care of them and feeding them. Seriously, I will never turn down lunch and hanging out as long as there is food involved.
- This is actually how many people got me to go shopping – they would buy me food.
- Because I hate shopping.
- Unless it’s food or craft shopping.
- I am actually pretty good at making cards (haven’t bought one in years because I make them).
- I am a firm believer in karma and everything happening for a reason. We all have something we are meant to do.
- I hope to meet you someday!
